Release 1.13 — Release Notes
This release brings a number of new features, configuration options, and quality-of-life improvements. The notes are organized by audience so you can jump straight to what's relevant to you.
For Administrators & Managers
New features
- Substitute Pools (optional). Organize your substitutes into tiered pools to control eligibility — for example, giving a preferred pool first access to openings. Enable in SMU Settings.
- SMU Groups (optional). Place your substitutes into one or more groups, then share those groups with another client's locations. Aimed at staffing providers who supply substitutes to multiple districts. Contact support if you enable this option.
- Multi-select approval of attendance. Approve multiple attendance records at once instead of one at a time. Must be enabled for each location.
- Custom assignment instructions per location. Location managers can write instructions that appear directly on the substitute's assignment.
- "Restricted" candidates. In addition to Eligible and Ineligible, a substitute can now be Restricted — they won't see the opening or be able to pick it up themselves, but a manager can assign them manually. Useful for cases like a substitute whose pool isn't currently active, or to override a block.
Configuration & controls
- Assignment Categories on the requesting side. Clients can now limit which of the standard assignment categories are valid on their openings.
- Assignment Categories on the substitute-management side. Districts can now limit which of the standard assignment categories their substitutes are allowed to work.
- Hide "Department" on openings. The department dropdown can be turned off for a location when it isn't used.
Payroll & timesheets
- USPS export fix. The export now uses the correct "MIS" paytype (previously "MISC").
- Multiple match conditions in timesheet mappings. A single mapping can now match on more than one condition.
- Break-time calculation for hourly substitutes. Timesheet mappings can calculate break time when producing paid units for hourly substitutes.
Fixes & smaller improvements
- "Resend all Pending Invites" now keeps the original Employee ID on the reissued invitation.
- Refreshed invitation notification and acceptance screens (also visible to substitutes).
- Improved profile image upload, and faster profile thumbnails throughout the site (also visible to substitutes).
- Primary phone number is now part of your notification methods — see the substitute section for details, since the change applies to all users.
For Substitutes
- Cleaner invitation experience. The notification you receive when invited, and the screen where you accept, have both been improved.
- Better profile pictures. Uploading a profile image is easier, and your thumbnail loads faster everywhere it appears.
- Assignment instructions from your location. If your location manager has provided custom instructions, you'll see them on your assignment.
- Primary primary phone number behaves like other notification methods. Your primary phone number is now your preferred number for voice calls by managers. It has to exist as one of your notification methods, but it does not have to be verified. (The old "verified" indicator for the primary voice number has been removed since it no longer applies.)
- "Restricted" openings. You may occasionally be marked Restricted for an opening — this means you can't pick it up yourself, but your location manager can still assign it to you directly if appropriate.
