Release 1.15 — Release Notes

This release brings notification preferences, new tools for regular staff, expanded manager capabilities, and a number of quality-of-life improvements. The notes are organized by audience so you can jump straight to what's relevant to you.

General Features

  • Notification preferences with quiet periods. A new Notification Preferences page lets you control how and when you're notified. You can set a quiet period (for example, overnight) during which notifications are held until the quiet period ends, and fine-tune the behavior per notification category. For this release only the nightly digest email is affected by quiet periods. Future releases will provide more control over other notification types.
  • Location details at a glance. A small map icon now appears next to location names throughout the application. Hover or click it to see the location's address and phone number, with a link that opens the address in Google Maps.
  • Faster dashboards. The dashboard charts load more efficiently and update more reliably when filters change.

For Regular Staff

  • Preferred assignment categories. Regular staff can now select assignment categories for each unit they work in. These categories are used to help match the right substitutes when defining preferred substitutes.

For Administrators & Managers

New features

  • Mass-load substitute payroll information. Payroll staff information for substitutes (pay rates, and expenditure codes) can now be imported in bulk from a CSV file. The import screen reports any problem rows with their row numbers so you can quickly correct and re-import them. Imports are performed at the parent unit level.
  • Deactivated pool type. A new Deactivated pool type makes the substitutes in it ineligible for all openings, with no manager override. Candidate lists clearly indicate when a substitute is excluded because of a deactivated pool.
  • Department Manager scheduling. For any locations that have "Department on openings" enabled, Department managers can now create and manage openings within their department(s). Department managers are limited to creating vacancies for staff within their department. They can also manage assignments and approve attendance for their staff. For locations that have "Department on openings" set to "Disabled", this capability will not be available to department managers.

Openings & scheduling

  • Canceled openings hidden by default. The opening grid's status filter is now a dropdown with checkboxes and defaults to showing Complete, Assigned, and Available openings, so canceled openings no longer clutter the list. Select any combination of statuses to see exactly what you need.

Timesheets

  • Correct button availability on Manage Timesheets. The action buttons on the Manage Timesheets grid now enable and disable correctly based on your selection — for example, Reactivate is available only when every selected entry is canceled.

For Substitutes

  • Notification quiet periods. You can now set a quiet period so notifications don't disturb you overnight — they'll be delivered once your quiet period ends. Configure this on the new Notification Preferences page, including per-category overrides. For this release, only the nightly digest email is affected by quiet periods. Future releases will provide more control over other notification types.
